home comes to me

November 12, 2010

Usually I have to console myself with images of home, but being that home (or at least a big part of it) is coming to me this weekend…actually, I still like to revel in photos of home. These two are from the front of my house in the early morning during one of my recent trips to NY.

This weekend my mom and younger sister are coming to town. To say I’m excited is quite the understatement. Class work has really been picking up lately, so I’m looking forward to having a break with some family. It’s as if some of my professors just realized what the date was and decided in one bit cohesive agreement to hand out new assignments (as if we didn’t already have enough to do?) Some people have a problem with procrastinating, but I find that I’m almost the opposite. When I get the syllabus the first day of class, I immediately want to have every single assignment finished already. I hate the thought of a looming assignment in the not-so-distant future. It’s times like these, though, that I just need to step back and take one assignment, reading, and paper at a time…

My visitors won’t be here until later this evening, which means I better start bonding with my papers and books for school so that I can give them my full attention.

What’s on our agenda? Bonding, relaxing, eating, walking, sleeping, etc…the typical drill when you’re just looking to enjoy some time together. We might sneak in dinner out and a movie, too, depending on what happens. Either way, it’s going to be one fun sleepover.

On another note, I recently purchased PB&C’s Cinnamon Raisin Swirl. I found it for $3 (I’ll wait while you get back on your chair. What a steal, I know!) and was about to stock up for my entire life, but then thought I should probably taste it before I devote my life savings to it.

The verdict? It made me swoon. I honestly wasn’t sure what it would taste like but…it’s pretty much a cinnamon raisin cookie party in your mouth. Can you say stocking stuffer? Can you say beautiful creation? Can you say “Mom, want to buy me something great this weekend?” Oh, the possibilities! I’ve also convinced myself that some CRSPB will make me study harder and write faster. Don’t judge.

Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

If you live away from “home” do you prefer to have visitors or to go home and visit others?

I like to go visit people because traveling is the best. Even when you know the people, it’s still always new and different 🙂
