Hi, my name is Natalia. A Side of Simple is my outlet for sharing my passions, balancing the day-to-day, and gushing about my slight obsession with pb and horses.

To start, I love good food. Food that fuels the body, nourishes the soul, and eases your mind is real food. I’ve grown up around a kitchen. Mom could more often than not be found inside her “studio” creating and testing and cooking away delicious meals. To this day her passion for food and flavor is balanced with exercising and living a healthy lifestyle. She has always encouraged me to live a healthy life and to be good to my body (except when it comes to candy corns). Her love for food and health (oh, and horses) has clearly been passed down to me. Reading cookbooks, browsing health articles, and running the rail trail are all simple things that make my day.

This blog isn’t about my Mom, though, so I should tell you a bit more about myself. I love to write, read, and take pictures. I’m in my early 20’s, was born and raised in New York state, and I’m an Undergrad student with a major in English-Communications. I started off the year 2010 on a flight to Ireland where I vacationed studied abroad for five months. One of those months was spent completely backpacking through Europe and praying for a bed/shower every so often. Traveling really inspired me to relish the simple things in life, breathe in the moments, and thank God. This blog begins a new journey for me. I look forward to meeting you along the way!

I studied abroad in college too! I miss all the adventure travel but I don’t miss all those youth hostels and crusty showers;) My mom instilled her love of healthy cooking in me too!

I look forward to reading more about your love of horses and your experience with them. Such incredible animals!

Thanks Joslyn. We need to exchange stories sometime (and horrors involving hostels.. oh my how I adore my bed and four walls!). I think we’re both so lucky to have such wonderful women as mothers.

Sounds like you had a great experience in early 2010. Any plans for topping Europe in 2011? 🙂

Ireland is amazing! I spent a 5 weeks there one summer in high school living with an Irish family and working in Killarney National Park. Sounds like you had an amazing experience abroad. I definitely regret not doing that in college!

Just came across your lovely blog and wanted to say hello! 🙂

I think it’s a great gift to grow up with a mom who gets you acquainted with whole foods so early in life. My mom, happily, was the same: she cooked something fresh every day, and eating processed foods was the absolute exception. I also learned that I liked her home-cooked meals much better. 🙂

Natalia! I am reading your blog for the first time and absolutely love it. It’s great to find a woman with a passion for a heathly lifestyle that coincides with a passion for Christ! I will be following — and awesome perspective of taking life day by day. That’s the best way of realizing all that you are blessed with!
