Colors of Fall

September 22, 2010

Happy Fall!

I’ve been waiting for this day for so long.

I should probably admit that my internal calendar acknowledges fall by late August.

This might have something to do with all the advertisements for fall clothes, back-to-school supplies, and Halloween decorations, but it is most likely a result of my obsession with it.

I think it’s just a great season.

I have so many vivid memories from my childhood and over the past years of family, friends, and some awesome food from the fall. It’s the start of the holiday season and it’s always been a special time for me.

When I had to decide if I would study abroad in the spring or fall, I immediately chose the spring because I couldn’t imagine missing a New England/ New York fall.

The fashions for fall always get me in a good mood, too.

First off it translates to boot season.

Second, it means layers and cozy knits and warm colors and oh-my-just-please-get-excited!

Sidenote: The March’s home in Little Women is called Orchard House. This theme of orchards may have also sparked a love…

Shall we continue with a good eat?

In keeping with the theme of fall, I decided I wanted some color for a snack. I wasn’t too hungry but I needed something to keep me full for a bit.

I scourged around my kitchen and cabinets and found that I didn’t have too many options because 1) I’m going home this weekend and didn’t want to leave food around, and 2) I’m a poor college student.

Enter here our main attraction.

These two rogues, a banana and a peach, would provide me with the color palette I was going for, as well as serve as a nutritious snack.

(I did have some compensating to do for those candy corns earlier…)

All I did was splice and dice them up and throw them in a bowl together. At first I didn’t think I would like the texture of the two together because I’m very much a “banana stands alone” girl.

The mix was delicious!

After the first taste I let it sit for a couple of minutes in the fridge to let the juices blend a bit.

I did add a small blob of Nutella, you know, for festivities sake.

Although not absolutely necessary, I highly recommend the Nutella.

Trust me on this.

Have a great day!

Are you doing anything special for the first day of fall, whether it be a meal, a workout, an activity, an extra hour in bed, etc.?

I feel the exact same way about fall! It looks like we’re on the exact same wavelength: we both love fall and we both did a post celebrating corn! So funny;)

By the way I LOVE those 2 outfits you chose. Is that from Anthropologie? Those boots really should be mine.

I love how we’re so in sync! Yes about the outfits- I basically want to live in the Anthropologie store. And I’m pretty sure those boots were made for us to walk in =)

I couldn’t agree more on the Nutella part! It creates balance. And hey, the Europeans are all about it!

mm mm that is one beautiful breakfast. Love the looks of all of the delicious fruits! Have you smelled bath and body works fall candles? They are amazing. Honestly though…I’m more of a summer baby 🙂 Its still in the 80’s in Charleston and I hope it stays like this for a while more.

No, I haven’t smelled them yet. I’m going home for the weekend and there’s a Bath and Body Works in my area there so I’ll have to try them. Thank you!
