rewind and forward

February 7, 2011

Remember a while back when I was going to a meeting here at one of the mansions?

Well, it ended up being in the middle of one of our weekly blizzards that we’ve been getting accustomed to in the Northeast.

Don’t worry. We didn’t let a little (a lot of) snow stop us from going on with business!

And while the place looks incredible during the warmer months with all the greenery, gardens, and overall grandeur, the place, all covered in snow, looked like it was straight out of a fairytale or from the Chronicles of Narnia.

We were pressed for time because of the impending snow storm of doom, which meant I didn’t get a chance to take pictures of the inside. Our hosts for the meeting were so friendly and really gracious to us for still making it out in the storm. In a few weeks the company I intern for is hosting a big expo show there, so we ran through a floor plan, organized where vendors were going to be set up, took care of some details as far as electricity and table space go, and all those other fine tuning decisions that need to be made before guests start showing up.

Maybe during the expo I’ll get a chance to take some pictures of the inside. It was incredible! Even though I’ve spent almost four years here I still can’t get over the sheer magnitude of these mansions! The fact that people lived in these as summer cottages astounds me! The architecture and intricacies of the buildings are a testament to humanity’s creativity and devotion (and money….).

Let’s move on to some celebratory affairs, shall we?

Friday night my friends and I, along with a large percentage of our May 2011 graduating class, celebrated our “100 Days Until Graduation” countdown with a party at The Gas Lamp Grille.

(Flashback picture to the days of sun, warmth, and flip-flops). Sigh.

It was a great time kicking off our final semester with some loud music, some tipsy drinks, and some pretty fine dance moves.

Everyone wore their official Seniors 2011 t-shirts (2, peace sign, peace sign = 2011…yea, we don’t know who designed the shirts…I guess we really want peace?) and there was no cover charge at the door.

Don’t have to pick out a cute top? Check!

Don’t have to pay at the door? Check!

If I can’t be snuggled up on the couch in my sweat pants with a mug of Jenna’s mind-blowing hot chocolate, those two deals made for a pretty good alternative, wouldn’t you say?

Now let’s move forward and see if we graduate…kidding.

I think.

P.S. This is why we’re hot.

Did you watch the Super Bowl? Wait. People watch the Super Bowl? I thought it was all about the food…?

What’s one thing that you did this weekend to celebrate living? Seniors 2011 “100 days until graduation party!”

What an amazing building! I can’t believe you had a meeting there? I would have felt like the President or something.

To celebrate living this weekend I did an 18 mile training run and then had an amazing brunch buffet! What better living than that?

Hah, I love your face in the last picture. I’ve totally seen that shirt before on Ashley! So exciting about graduating! I love that you have a party to celebrate that as well, very cool.

I have NEVER been to the mansions and I’ve lived here almost 5 years. Maybe we should make that our visit together?! 🙂
