Not Just Any Memory
Let’s remember this day in our (especially if you are from or live in the United States) history as a day when we came together as one nation. It marks a day when we put aside our political affiliations and religious beliefs and united to aid each other in a time of pain and crises.
It’s not a day of the past. We all have our opinions and qualms with the government and society, but today we all share the great loss that happened September 11, 2001. Many of us remember exactly when and where we were when the Twin Towers were hit. We remember the first time we saw it on the news, the first time we heard the phone ring that day, and we remember the dreaded the news, any news. We will always remember it. Please offer up a time in your day today to reflect on what you have, appreciate those you love, and breathe in the freedom you have.
I thank God that I have been fortunate enough to live in the United States and call it home. I pray for all those who give of themselve for this great country, who have sacrificed their lives for its beliefs and freedoms, and who wish to call it home.
Today I am proud to be an American.
